Country Kids Child Development Center
501 Main Street Groton, MA 01450 978-448-2413
At the very heart and soul of our program are our amazing teachers. These remarkable woman dedicate their lives to the well being and education of all children. Within this professional learning community, these teachers support one another in the common goal of providing high quality early childhood education to your children. Our teachers, many of whom have been here 10 years or longer, are early childhood professionals dedicated to providing the best first-school experience possible for your child. More importantly though, is they are members of our school “family oriented” community; mothers, sisters, colleagues and friends who reach out beyond the role of teacher to become someone who cares deeply about your child and who will ultimately become a very important part of their world. Making and developing connections is a key component of our philosophy. Connections with teachers, other children, community members, and other families are an essential part of your child’s experience here at school. Building strong relationships at school will help your child feel safe and cared for while away from you, and provide the confidence to begin to explore the world around them knowing they will be guided and supported along the way.

I have been teaching at Country Kids since 2003. I truly enjoy working with the teaching team her; throughout the years they have become more like a part of my family than just my co-workers. I spent my first two years as an assistant in the Jr. Preschool classroom. In June of 2005 I received my teaching certificate then began teaching in the Toddler classroom in September of that same year. In September of 2008 I began teaching in the Jr. Preschool classroom and in September of 2009 I began teaching in the Preschool classroom. I also spend time as the Director Designee in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director. I am currently enrolled in the Early Childhood Program at Mount Wachusett Community College and further my education by attending trainings throughout the year. I am very excited to be teaching in preschool again, where I truly enjoy spending time with the children; learning, playing, growing and exploring. I have lived in Townsend since I was nine. During my spare time I greatly enjoy being outside and I absolutely love spending time with my family and friends. I am greatly looking forward to having a wonderful year together with you and your children!
I have been teaching at Country Kids since 2015 and love coming to work each day. I have been in the field of Early Childhood Education for over 33 years. I began my career as an assistant and then after having my own children, I opened my own large family home daycare. This allowed me to have the best of both worlds. I was able to be with my own children while still pursuing my passion as an early childhood educator. After my children were grown, I chose to work outside the home in a child development/school setting. In 1998, I received my teaching certification for infants and toddlers as well as preschoolers. I live in Shirley and have two grown children and a beautiful granddaughter named Skylar. I love spending time with my family and being outdoors. I have a special fondness for animals and nature and especially love being able to incorporate this into the classroom.
I have been working at Country Kids since 2016 and just began my career in Early Childhood Education in 2015. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Psychology from Franklin Pierce University. I currently live at home with my family in Groton, Massachusetts. My one and only sibling, Trever is in high school! We both enjoy spending time with our dogs, Callie and Kona.
During my free time I like to read cookbooks and look for recipes. I mostly like to bake (especially anything with chocolate), but I like to make dinner for my family as well. I also spend my time watching the Food Network, including the Pioneer Woman. During the summer and fall you can always find me outside; either running or going on nature walks, and kayaking. I also enjoy reading fictional stories, when I'm not taking college courses to keep updated on the best Early Education practices. I am very excited to be at Country Kids with the children and families learning and growing, as I once did when I attended Country Kids years ago!
I initially joined Country Kids in 2013 as an infant teacher before spending time as a preschool teacher in 2014. I live in Shirley with my daughter. We love the outdoors and being active as a family throughout all seasons.
I have been working at Country Kids since 2011 and spent the last five years as an infant teacher! I went to Northeastern University to study biology- then a good friend told me about an opening at her child care center in Acton- I fell in love with Early Education (got my certification through Mt. Wachusett)and worked with every age group EXCEPT infants. I subbed at my son’s preschool and was an aide for 2 years in public school. I went back to Early Ed in an Infant/Toddler class in Townsend, then decided I had to try infants- I fell in love with the challenges, fun and joy of working in an infant environment! Most recently, I have taken on the role of a float teacher where I am able to spend time in all classrooms. My husband and I love to canoe, kayak, trail bike, bodysurf and hike. We always have a large vegetable garden and enjoy annual trips to Martha’s Vineyard, Denmark ME, Barrington NH and once in a while, visit relatives in Nova Scotia. I have a son attending UVM this fall studying Spanish and global affairs. My husband is a mechanical engineer who works in Dracut for Wasik Assoc. We have a dog named Kiwi and a cat named Yorke.
Robin Kane-Owner/Executive Director
I began my career as an Early Childhood Educator working as an assistant teacher in a cooperative preschool in Lincoln, MA and then as a teacher in a private preschool in Sudbury. When my niece was born in 1991 I started a small preschool/childcare program so that I could be her first teacher. That first year taught me a great deal as I had three infants to care for as well as three lively preschoolers to teach!
As our school grew, I continued my education with classes and spent many hours volunteering in a first grade classroom and completing three months of student teaching in a second grade classroom. These experiences with children in a variety of settings helped to deepen my understanding of early learning. I recently went back to school to further my education and graduated from Lesley University with a degree in Human Development, with a minor in Early Childhood Education. My growing interest in children's cognitive development has led me to work on a research project that is looking at improving outcomes for at-risk children in urban schools in Boston.
This year, I am on sabbatical working with researchers at Harvard University under a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson foundation, supporting teachers in Dorchester and Roxbury by providing professional development and training, combined with on-going, in-classroom coaching. It is interesting and challenging work which has the added benefit of providing my school and staff with the very latest knowledge from the country's leaders in education.
I live in Groton with my husband, three wonderful daughters and three crazy dogs! (plus chickens, ducks, and a lizard!) I enjoy being outside, reading, cooking and spending time with my family.
Although I am technically not working on site at Country Kids this year, I am still there as often as possible, so please stop in and say hello if you see me in the office!
Jennifer Buckingham-Program Director
I have been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for 26 years and have been working at Country Kids for the past 23 years. At Country Kids I started out working as a teacher in the Infant and Toddler rooms. I enjoyed my time with the infants and toddlers for eight years, after which time, in 2001, I became the Assistant Director. Five years ago, I took over the job of Program Director. In this role I am able to continue to be influential in the lives and early education of children as well as the families in our school's community. I aspire to create and maintain an environment that supports young children's learning while at the same time cultivate a strong, collaborative community in which families, children and teachers can all thrive.
I hold an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies from Middlesex Community College as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Wellesley College where I was a Davis Scholar. I have a strong interest in current research in developmental psychology and was fortunate to have been able to conduct an independent research project on preschoolers sharing behaviors in regard to moral development, while at Wellesley. I am passionate about children and strive to provide a high quality early childhood program where children, families and educators are valued, nurtured and respected. I have two children, ages 19 and 16 and in my spare time I enjoy reading and spending time with my family, our cat, Boots and our dog, Sophie.
