Meet the Teachers

At the very heart and soul of our program are our amazing teachers.  These remarkable woman dedicate their lives to the well being and education of all children. Within this professional learning community, these teachers support one another in the common goal of providing high quality early childhood education to your children.  Our teachers, many of whom have been here 10 years or longer, are early childhood professionals dedicated to providing the best first-school experience possible for your child.  More importantly though, is they are members of our school “family oriented” community; mothers, sisters, colleagues and friends who reach out beyond the role of teacher to become someone who cares deeply about your child and who will ultimately become a very important part of their world. Making and developing connections is a key component of our philosophy.  Connections with teachers, other children, community members, and other families are an essential part of your child’s experience here at school. Building strong relationships at school will help your child feel safe and cared for while away from you, and provide the confidence to begin to explore the world around them knowing they will be guided and supported along the way.

Infant Teachers

Beryl This is my third year working with Infants at Country Kids!  I went to Northeastern University to study biology- then a good friend told me about an opening at her child care center in Acton- I fell in love with Early Education (got my certification through Mt. Wachusett)and worked with every age group EXCEPT infants.  I subbed at my son’s preschool and was an aide for 2 years in public school. I went back to Early Ed in an Infant/Toddler class in Townsend, then decided I had to try infants- I fell in love with the challenges, fun and joy of working in an infant environment! My husband and I love to canoe, kayak, trail bike, bodysurf and hike.  We always have a large vegetable garden and enjoy annual trips to Martha’s Vineyard, Denmark ME, Barrington NH and once in a while, visit relatives in Nova Scotia.  I have a son attending UVM this fall studying Spanish and global affairs.  My husband is a mechanical engineer who works in Dracut for Wasik Assoc.  We have a dog named Kiwi and a cat named Yorke.

Infant/Toddler Teachers

I have worked in a variety of childcare environments and with all with ages of children, from infants to pre-kindergarten!  I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and have been with Country Kids since September of 2002. Part of what makes teaching so special to me is the wonder and delight that children possess as they experience all that the world has to offer. The things that adults take for granted, or don't even notice anymore, are fascinating to a young toddler who is just beginning to experience life; and I love witnessing that each day. I love the history of this area and enjoy watching historical re-enactments. I also enjoy camping with my children and having cookouts with my friends, or curling up with a good book at the end of a busy day.

Junior Preschool Teachers

I have been in the Early Education field for 17 years now.  I have been with Country Kids for the past 11 years, where I have had the opportunity to be lead teacher for Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers. I currently work in the Jr. Preschool room as a lead teacher with Kristen Denoncour.  My husband and I live in Leominster with 2 children (17 & 7).  We love the outdoors and being active as a family throughout all seasons.

Preschool Teachers

I have been teaching at Country Kids for ten years. I truly enjoy working with the teaching team here, throughout the years they have become more like a part of my family than just my co-workers. I spent my first two years as an assistant in the Jr. Preschool classroom. In June of 2005 I received my teaching certificate then began teaching in the Toddler classroom in September of that same year. In September of 2008 I began teaching in the Jr. Preschool classroom and in September of 2009 I began teaching in the Preschool classroom. I further my education by attending trainings throughout the year, and am also First Aid and CPR certified. I am very excited to be teaching in preschool again, where I truly enjoy spending time with the children; learning, playing, growing and exploring. I have lived in Townsend since I was nine.  During my spare time I greatly enjoy being outside and I absolutely love spending time with my family and friends. I am greatly looking forward to having a wonderful year together with you and your children!

I started working at Country Kids three years ago, after my younger brother graduated from the Kindergarten program here. I fell in love with the connection between the students and teachers! I started working in the Jr. Preschool classroom as an afternoon assistant, and over time I have had the opportunity to work in all of the classrooms. I have recently become teacher qualified and am excited to be working afternoons in the Preschool classroom this fall. I attend Fitchburg State University working towards my bachelor’s degree in Special Ed. My experience with the children and faculty at Country Kids has helped me learn and grow as a person and teacher!

Pre-K Teachers
I am a Mother of two grown children and a Grandmother of three.   My husband and I live in Lunenburg, but West Groton is where I grew up, and a place that I still call home.   Growing up in a small community for me was a time of free play and exploration; it was also a time that I believe helped to create the foundation of my teaching career. My formal education in Early Childhood Education began at Mount Wachusett Community College.  I gained not only a valuable education but I also developed a passion for teaching young children.  It was during this time that I recognized that my childhood experiences helped me to form the philosophy I hold today on how children become independent, curious and lifelong learners. I have worked with young children of all stages of development; from infants to preschool children for over fifteen years.  My most valuable experience to date, before Country Kids, was working as a Preschool Teacher at The Infant Toddler Children’s Center in Acton for nine years.  After taking some time off from being a Teacher I am very excited to resume my career and become part of the Country Kids community.

I have been teaching at Country Kids since 2002. I spent a couple years teaching preschool before I began teaching kindergarten for 8 years.  I am looking forward to teaching Pre-K this year and spending time with your child as they explore, learn and develop.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Plymouth State in Early Childhood Education and continue to strengthen my knowledge through attending conferences, trainings and workshops.  I also enjoy visiting and observing other schools around the area. I have two sons and enjoy spending time outside with my family camping, taking walks and of course playing.

Robin Kane-Owner/Executive Director

I began my career as an Early Childhood Educator working as an assistant teacher in a cooperative preschool in Lincoln, MA and then as a teacher in a private preschool in Sudbury.  When my niece was born in 1991 I started a small preschool/childcare program so that I could be her first teacher.  That first year taught me a great deal as I had three infants to care for as well as three lively preschoolers to teach!

As our school grew, I continued my education with classes and spent many hours volunteering in a first grade classroom and completing three months of  student teaching in a second grade classroom.  These experiences with children in a variety of settings helped to deepen my understanding of early learning.  I recently went back to school to further my education and graduated from Lesley University with a degree in Human Development, with a minor in Early Childhood Education.  My growing interest in children's cognitive development has led me to work on a research project that is looking at improving outcomes for at-risk children in urban schools in Boston.

This year, I am on sabbatical working with researchers at Harvard University under a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson foundation, supporting teachers in Dorchester and Roxbury by providing professional development and training, combined with on-going,  in-classroom coaching.  It is interesting and challenging work which has the added benefit of providing my school and staff with the very latest knowledge from the country's leaders in education.

I live in Groton with my husband, three wonderful daughters and three crazy dogs! (plus chickens, ducks, and a lizard!)  I enjoy being outside, reading, cooking and spending time with my family.

Although I am technically not working on site at Country Kids this year, I am still there as often as possible, so please stop in and say hello if you see me in the office!

Jennifer Buckingham-Program Director

I have been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for 23 years and have been working at Country Kids for the past 19 years.  At Country Kids I started out working as a teacher in the Infant and Toddler rooms. I enjoyed my time with the infants and toddlers for eight years, after which time, in 2001, I became the Assistant Director.  Two years ago, I took over the job of Program Director. In this role I am able to continue to be influential in the lives and early education of children as well as the families in our school's community. I aspire to create and maintain an environment that supports young children's learning while at the same time cultivate a strong, collaborative community in which families, children and teachers can all thrive.
I hold an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies from Middlesex Community College as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Wellesley College where I was a Davis Scholar.  I have a strong interest in current research in developmental psychology and was fortunate to have been able to conduct an independent research project on preschoolers sharing behaviors in regard to moral development, while at Wellesley.  I am passionate about children and strive to provide a high quality early childhood program where children, families and educators are valued, nurtured and respected.  I have two children, ages 15 and 13 and in my spare time I enjoy reading and spending time with my family, our cat, Boots and our dog, Sophie.

I live in Townsend with my family where we enjoy spending lots of time together outside playing, gardening, hiking and fishing. In my spare time I also enjoy doing crafts, cooking, and snuggling up with a good book.
